Report: Call Of Duty Franchises Priced At $25M Per Team
Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard is looking to create a new, city-based Call of Duty e-sports league, and has started looking for franchisees willing to pay $25 million to set up a team in their own city, according to a report on Wednesday. The report, from ESPN, says Activision Blizzard has been meeting with prospective buyers for the league. Hulu Snags Free Solo
Santa Monica-based streaming television service Hulu said Wednesday morning that it has acquired the streaming rights to the documentary Free Solo, which highlights rock climber Alex Honnold as he prepares to climb--without ropes--El Capitan, the 3,200 foot peak in Yosemite National Park. Flint Rehab Finds $1.72M In Grant Funding
Irvine-based Flint Rehab, which is developing neuro-rehabilitation devices for treating stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI), said it has received $1.72M in a grant funding. The grant came from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Qualcomm-backed Cloudflare Connects With $150M More
Cloudflare a provider of Internet caching and security services whih is backed by San Diego-based Qualcomm, said on Tuesday that it has raised $150M in a new round of funding, bringing its total raised to $330M. Bridgepoint Education Buys Fullstack Academy For $50.75M
San Diego-based Bridgepoint Education said this morning that i thas acquired Fullstack Academy, an operator of a immersive coding bootcamp, in a deal worth approximately $50.75M, split between $17.5M in cash and up to 4.75 million shares of its common stock. Fullstack Academy operates a web development coding bootcamp, which focuses on cybersecurity training. EDF Renewables Puts Wind Project Online In Minnesota
San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewables North America says it has put new, 100 megawatt (MW) wind project online in Minnesota. According to EDF Renewables, the Stoneray Wind Project, based in Pipestone and Murray counties in Southwestern Minnesota, will be delivering power to the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) beginning in 2020 under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Lytx Wins Concrete Hauler For Driver Safety Systems
San Diego-based Lytx, which develops vidoe-based driver safety systems for the commercial and public sector, reported this morning that it has scored a win with concrete company Lauren Concrete. According to Lytx, Lauren Concrete, which has a fleet of 245 concrete mixing vehicles, 18-wheel hauling trucks, and pick-up trucks, will roll out its systems to its entire fleet. Weedmaps Sets New CEO
Irvine-based Weedmaps, a provider of cannabis delivery services and cannabis dispensary information, said on Tuesday that it has named Chris Beals as its Chief Executive Officer. Beals previously was President and General Counsel of the company, which he joined in August of 2015. Current CEO Doug Francis becomes Chairman of the company. Beals also will join the board.
