Match Group Says Bumble Dropping $400M Lawsuit
Match Group, the parent company behind LA's Tiner mobile dating service, says that women's dating site Bumble is dropping its $400M lawsuit against the firm, which had alleged theft of trade secrets and fraud. The lawsuit, which had been filed in March of 2018, was a countersuit to an earlier lawsuit against Bumble by Match Group. LA Attorney, Now Cryptocurrency Mogul, Plans Blockchain Paradise In Nevada
In yet another story of a cryptocurrency millionaire looking to create their own, utopian society, former Los Angeles attorney Jeffrey Berns--who made his fortune on investing in the Ethereum cryptocurrency--has purchased a massive plot of land near Reno, and hopes to create his own utopian world of "houses, schools, commercial districts, and production studios", according to a profile in the New York Times. Former Snap Engineering VP Launches New Startup, Liquidata
Timothy Sehn, the former Senior VP of Engineering for Venice-based Snap, has launched a new, Santa Monica-based startup called Liquidata. The new startup says it is developing a "data as a service" offering. Sehn left Snap a year ago. Sehn was one of the executives who had a significant stake in Snap at the IPO, with Sehn's share of the company worth around $110M at the IPO.

Hulu Adds More Live TV Content
Los Angeles-based streaming television provider Hulu said this week that it has added two new "add-ons" for its Live TV subscribers, including both a new set of Spanish channels, as well as new Entertainment content. Mitchell Merges With Genex Services
San Diego-based software developer Mitchell, which develops software and other technology for the insurance and collision repair industries, says it has merged with Genex Services, a provider of clinical solutions for the workers' compensation, auto, and disability markets. Financial details of that merger were not announced. City of Hope Teams On New Cell Therapy Manufacturing Site
Duarte-based cancer research and treatment center City of Hope and Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), an affiliate, said the two plan to develop their own, cell therapy manufacturing facility, which will be based in Phoenix, Arizona. According to the two, the new cell therapy manufacturing facility will help it improve the speed at which stem cell research and cancer treatment is delivered. DNAe Aims At Treating Antimicrobial Resistant Infections
Carlsbad-based DNAe says it has developed a new, diagnostic platform that uses semiconductor DMA to help in treating antimicrobial resistant infections. According to the company, it completed the first phase of a $51.9M million contract with the U.S. government to developing DNA sequencing technology to help physicians by providing rapid diagnosis of antimicrobial resistant infections and influenza.
